Bowey Dominates at I-70 Speedway: Leading 77 of 125 laps, Charlotte Bowey charged to her second victory in three races. Bowey took the lead from Luis Cabrera Perez on lap 49, leading the rest of the way to victory. She also wrecked Dave Lake in practice, in case we forgot who she was.
Joe Trickle finished second in the race, his best finish of the season in NSRS. Jack Stevens was running third in the closing stages of the race but pitted with two laps to go, allowing Kurt Gunnabee to take the final step of the podium. Danny Vandoorne finished fourth, taking the points lead from Kevin Keselowski after he was involved in an incident entering pit road.
Perez Rolls to Win at The Rock: Luis Cabrera-Perez scored his first career NSRS win, taking the victory at Rockingham Speedway. Perez experienced more success negotiating lapped traffic, taking the lead from Kevin Keselowski for the win.
Keselowski moved back to second in points with the runner-up finish, 13 points behind Danny Vandoorne. Vandoorne finished fourth, behind Kurt Gunnabee. Robert Phelps finished fifth, his third top-five in the last four races.
Charging Yelkrab Wins New Smyrna: Kire Yelkrab went two-for-two at Five Flags Speedway, winning the B-Main before taking the checkered flag in the STSC event at the Florida facility.
Yelkrab started 24th in the main event, charging through the field to the victory. Yelkrab got to the front of the field in relatively short order, leading 37 laps in the race. Jon Ross finished second for his second trip to the podium on the season, while Spark Spencer III continued his reign of terror on the STSC by finishing third. Lightning McQueen and Nik Scholz rounding out the top five.
Oh Right, Spark Spencer is Good: After Yelkrab’s heroics at New Smyrna, the other Florida race in STSC was much more boring. Spark Spencer is to blame for that, as he led every lap en route to the win.
With the win, Spencer leads Cooter Bigsby by 147 points in the STSC title hunt. Bigsby finished fourth at New Smyrna, with Rick James second and Kire Yelkrab third. Jon Ross completed the top five.
With two races remaining in the season, Spencer finds himself in a strong position to finish out his pursuit of the Season Two STSC championship. Can he hang on to the top spot over the final two events at Bristol and Lacrosse? Stay tuned!
